Candidate Fabrizio, an Italian national with an MBA from London Business School, was a senior consultant at a global management consultancy firm when Venquis headhunted him. He was living in London and had a solid wealth of experience with both blue chip and Big 4 professional services organisations.
At the time of contact, Fabrizio led a team of 12 that focused on business and technology transformation and advisory engagements. His preference was to be more business rather than technology focused, something that his current employer could not offer. However, a covetous upcoming promotion to manager was affecting his decision to move.
Venquis proactively approached Fabrizio regarding a position at a prestigious Big 4 firm and although not looking for a move, he was interested in the opportunity.
Initially, from his CV, the Big 4 firm envisaged Fabrizio as a senior consultant. However after discussions with us around his previous experience, they reconsidered and agreed that he was manager level.
The selection process involved an interview with a director, followed by one with a partner and an assessment centre. 24 hours after the assessment centre, we received a management level offer for Fabrizio, who accepted.
As Fabrizio was aggressively counter-offered by his current firm who offered him a larger salary to stay, we stayed in close contact with him, coaching him through the resignation and exit process, and securing him an early exit. The following month, Fabrizio joined the Big 4 firm as manager; an unprecedented move in an industry that rarely offers a candidate a promotion to join, especially one that is coming from outside the Big 4. Now Fabrizio, enjoying his new business-focused role, is more than happy to have made the move.
