Job Description

Technology Advisor / Technology Consultant / Technology Director is required by a prestigious Private Equity form to help target organisations increase shareholder value. The successful candidate will be joining a team that helps businesses outperform competitors and increase shareholder value. Its purpose is to advise firms on different parts of their business to help increase profitability through driving efficiencies and best practice.

You would be required to:

  • Lead the IT & Technology competency within the team
  • Work with case officers to lead businesses through the first 100 days post-completion
  • Support management teams to deliver specific value creation projects and develop value creation plans
  • Carry out IT & Technology due diligence pre-deal
  • Be a brand ambassador for the team across regional offices and within portfolio companies

Primary responsibilities

  • Work with management teams and their organisations to: Review and develop IT strategies for the firm's portfolio businesses so as to ensure IT projects and plans are aligned to the business and investment strategy including:
  • Infrastructure
  • People & Support
  • Software & Applications
  • Reporting
  • Automation through technology
  • Data security (e.g. ensuring data is not lost, systems are accessible when required, cyber-attacks)
  • Complying with legislation
  • Disaster recovery planning including good data back-up strategies
  • IT security and controls policy with regular testing
  • Impact of future technology: 5G that will drive IoT (Internet of Things) in a cost effective/ timely manner; Artificial Intelligence driven by cognitive computing; Additive Manufacture (3/4D Printing)
  1. Analyse IT requirements within companies and giving independent and objective advice on the use of IT to drive shareholder value creation (Earnings Growth, Cash Generation, a Professional & Attractive platform for future investors)
  2. Acting as a mentor, SME and trusted advisor to firm's portfolio company CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CIOs and Board members as well as firm's investor directors
  3. Work with management teams to develop agreed solutions and implement new systems including change management, project management, testing and implementation of solutions as required within the firm's portfolio businesses
  4. Lead the identification and implementation of BI solutions within the firm's portfolio companies to allow businesses to leverage data for better decision making and extract value from their data Organise training for users and other consultants
  • Work pre-deal with Deal Teams to carry out IT due diligence and report back on risks, opportunities and projected implementation plans & costs
  • Work with Case Officers across the UK to identify and prioritise IT / Technology opportunities within the portfolio
  • Carry out 100 day plans, build value creation plans and support specific projects in portfolio companies
  • Develop best practice for IT & Technology competency and build a bank of trusted advisors and external partners to support the team

Relevant Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years (ideally 10 years) experience
  • Led a business through a technology change process
  • Developed and implemented IT & Technology strategy in a number of businesses
  • Led RFP, vendor assessment and selection processes for technology projects
  • Demonstrable understanding in either Software or Infrastructure
  • Experience in CRM Systems, ERP systems and PSA systems highly desirable
  • Experience in assessing and appraising the robustness and quality of software development processes to include Agile, Waterfall and variants of is highly desirable
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development
  • Practical use of agile software development techniques and best practice (e.g. Jira, SCRUM)
  • Statistical evidence and analytical ability
  • Hands-on consultancy experience preferable
  • Written white papers and articles on IT & Technology preferable
  • PE experience preferable
