Job Description

Job Role:

  • Create and execute test scripts against defined requirements
  • Provide MI to the Test Manager on a daily basis, and on an ad-hoc basis
  • Own defects through to resolution for areas under test
  • Provide analysis of failed tests/defects raised, liaising with Business Analysts and Developers
  • Adhere to QA processes and best practice
  • Review and build out regression packs as required
  • Ensure entry and exit criteria, into, and out of test are met
  • Proactively raise risks and issues to ensure testing bottlenecks are minimised so that a delivery pipeline is maintained
  • Provide detailed estimates on test preparation and execution tasks
  • Define detailed test sets and test run order
  • Produce test completion reports
  • Design non-functional Test Plans for areas such as Performance, Stress, Load, Resilience, Availability and Operational testing
  • Liaise with both QA team and development and deployment groups
  • Drive and support the creation of the technical testing strategies and approaches
  • Conduct business process analysis/ re-engineering including GAP analysis (As-is/ To-be)
  • Provide logical/ physical data analysis of complex systems
  • Provide technical leadership for testing tools as required
  • Provide consultancy including advice on best practice, and test-related processes
  • Support the management team in continual process improvement initiatives

Skills Required:

Proven QA test experience within an Institutional Fund Management company / Investment Bank

  • Test/file preparation experience (data) both positive & negative
  • Experience of Data Warehouse, Book of Record, Reporting & Regulatory projects
  • Stand-alone QA testing
  • Experience with tracking trends in test results to ensure continuous improvement
  • Significant exposure to functional and non-functional testing (performance, stress, load, security, etc.)
  • The ability to communicate effectively and liaise on a technical level with Analysts, Designers and Developers is required in order to help in the creation of testing plans, scripts and supporting documentation.
  • A proven track record of successful delivery of technical test work packages.
  • Knowledge of structured technical testing strategies and methods applied in a distributed environment.
  • Experience of enterprise level automation and test management tools (Mercury, Compuware, Rational, Empirix).
  • Practical experience of contemporary tools, utilities and methodologies such as JMeter, NeoLoad, Selenium, Fitnesse, Cucumber, Cloud Testing, Mobile Testing and Big Data
  • Knowledge of use of UNIX and Windows environments for development and/or testing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and liaise on a technical or co-ordination level.
  • Constantly strive to improve the approach to testing though innovation and good practice.

  • Expected to have an in-depth knowledge of a range of technologies.*A sound knowledge of testing is expected and should range from unit level testing to large system non-functional testing.
  • Ability to take responsibility for areas of a test plan and work with others to execute that plan.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • The flexibility, intelligence and motivation to work in a variety of business domains.
  • A sound understanding of the project delivery lifecycle, ideally using a number of methodologies (e.g. SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP etc).
