Job Description

Purpose of the Role:


* Review and understand our client's Retail Systems and integrating systems

* Draft and complete technical specification and documentation around client's Retail Systems.

* Create an ITIL framework including CMDB for Retail Configuration Item Assets.

* A key component of the role will be to support Continuous Service Improvement within Retail and Customer Information Systems through problem management and the ongoing development and maintenance of a Retail Service Catalogue and Configuration Management Database.

* To work with the Retail Systems Manager to support the delivery and success of the client's smartcard key and other retail sales channels. This includes supporting project delivery through project management best practice and as subject matter expert; service improvement and enhancement to existing retail and information systems and reporting on service and performance analysis.

* Perform the role of technical authority to projects as required.

Principal Accountabilities


* Support the delivery of retail and customer information projects to deliver business value to operating companies

* Deliver improvements to systems to enhance operational resilience and effectiveness.

* To support the delivery and development of a working Configuration Management Database for Retail systems.

* Contribute actively in a specialist support team function within the wider IT team for retail and RTI/AVL area


Job Description


* Support business change - implementation of new retail channels, ticket types and interoperable and multi-modal schemes

* Establish client's reputation in interoperable schemes and ensure that relationships with external stakeholders are maintained - specifically with local authorities, ITSO, and other scheme operators with which we work

* Monitor and Support the availability of the retail infrastructure

* Attend meetings with internal, external and industry stakeholders to represent the client and/or associated Operating Companies as required.


Key Relationships


* Preparing technical documentation on the SMART Retail systems as required by the Retail Solutions Manager

* Providing technical support for the Retail Team the across the various Retail projects and support teams as well as key stakeholders

* Liaising as required with key suppliers

* Liaising as required with Internal Operating Company stakeholders.

* Prioritising workloads in respect to challenges from project requirements

* Understanding a large scale of industry-specific systems

* Working within system and solution architecture that does not always follow a logical path

* Managing being spread across multiple simultaneous projects and workstreams that may lie in very different areas of the business

* Stakeholder management with varying levels of the business, and being able to effectively communicate with all of them.

Education & Qualifications

* Qualified to degree standard or equivalent
* ITIL Qualification


Specialist Knowledge & Skills
* Technically-oriented background

* Writing business requirements & procurement specifications

* Computer literate with working knowledge of a variety of project management packages and MS office tools

* High degree of accuracy

* Designing test and project plans and writing test scripts

* Familiarity with PRINCE2 project management methodology

* ITSO knowledge

* Worked in Rail

Relevant Experience


* Experience of working in complex IT environments in a fast paced and challenging environment

* Good organisation skills, familiarity with project lifecycle

* Experience of being a team player and the ability to work effectively on own initiative
