Industrial Wi-Fi Project Manager


This is an IT transformation journey to simplify, standardise and centralize the technology landscape. The objective is to create the foundation from which it can drive the digitization agenda of the newly formed cluster of Transport & Logistics brands. The first step in the IT Strategy is to put in place a core IT team that can deliver standard IT services.

A vacancy exists for an Industrial Wi-Fi Project Manager

Purpose:
Responsible for the successful delivery of Industrial Wi-Fi Projects at many Container Terminals and other company Terminals locations. The role will manage the projects and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle whilst minimising risks to Terminal service operations and delivering standardised solutions that maximise Wi-Fi service availability and minimise IT run costs.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Clearly defining and agreeing project scope, requirements and timescales with key stakeholders
  • Developing work breakdown structures and defining the project and resourcing plans to deliver each Wi-Fi project to time, quality and cost
  • Capturing the requirements, approach, plans, designs into a "cookie-cutter" model for subsequent Wi-Fi deployments in terminals and sharing this learning with other IT project managers
  • Estimating the effort and elapsed time required to achieve the project outputs including risk mitigation and activity sequencing and the resources required to fulfil these
  • Ensuring that suppliers and physical resources are scheduled and available to expedite the project at a local and regional level and keeping on top of the project team's utilisation and effectiveness
  • Planning and managing the project through project and quality gates and business approval
  • Transitioning the project successfully to Service Operations
  • Ensuring that the CMDB is accurately updated with the configuration items for the Wi-Fi infrastructure and associated Terminal IT services
  • Managing the technical deployment and service cutover in Terminals to avoid service and staff disruption
  • Managing the training and deployment of terminal and IT operations staff who will use and support the technology
  • Identifying and tracking the benefits to be realised from the investment in Terminal industrial Wi-Fi
  • Adhering to a high standard project management and governance processes including reporting
  • Proactively managing the project schedule, dependencies and budget and escalating delays/slippages to the Service Delivery Lead
  • Proactively identifying and managing risks and issues and ensuring compliance with appropriate mitigation and resolution strategies
  • Identifying project stakeholders and ensuring that they understand the project scope and objectives and are kept informed on potential issues, progress and next steps
  • Ensuring that project changes are formally managed and fully traceable and minimising the negative impact of change on delivery
  • Understanding other projects and their interactions with the Industrial Wi-Fi Project to manage any dependencies and/or conflicts




SKILLS/EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related experience/certifications.
  • Experience in project management (plan, risk, issues, change, budget, resources,)
  • Experience in managing complex stakeholder's maps
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Management - essential
  • Prince 2 Practitioner or PMI equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial Wi-Fi networks - essential
  • Advanced knowledge of service transition - essential
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Services functions - essential
  • Medium knowledge of organisational change models - essential
  • Medium knowledge of Shared Services - advantageous
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Exposure to project lifecycle
