Principal Tasks

A business facing role providing 1st line central systems support capability on core applications. This position will primarily act as front-line triage and support for Global XB, act as the conduit between the outsource service desk / infrastructure suppliers as well as manage basic configuration demand from the business. It will also encompass other core business systems.

Systems Support Analyst Responsibilities

Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the Global XB application.

  • Receive, log and investigate core systems support questions
  • Triage, liaise and raise support calls with appropriate help desks
  • Act as a point of contact with trouble shooting core systems issues and ensure they are resolved
  • Testing bug fixes
  • Monitor performance and managing parameters to provide optimum query responses to 'front end' users
  • Create and provide regular reports on core systems issue statuses
  • Assist in controlling access permissions and privileges
  • Participate in the core systems development, management and testing of backup and recovery plans
  • Ensuring that agreed storage, archiving, back up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers
  • Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Assisting in maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act



Configuration Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain the reference (housekeeping data) in XB
  • Participate in the planning of both 'back end' organisation of XB data and 'front end' accessibility for end users
  • Participate in writing XB documentation (data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary) and maintaining document templates
  • Update and preserve XB user manuals and documentation
  • Assist in the installation and testing of Global XB prior to user acceptance testing and thereafter assist the business in test scripts, problem logging and resolution

Specific Knowledge Requirements

  • Active knowledge of PF practices, procedures and service standards
  • Detailed knowledge and/or awareness of PF IT systems and processes
  • Knowledge of Systems and Operations Division project plans and objectives.
  • Maintain user manual / documentation on core systems
  • Analysing support issues and working on a support desk
