Business Change Manager - Contract - 400 per day - Travel Retailer - 3-6 Months (Initially) - Bedfordshire Area

The Business Change Manager - Corporate will partner the Corporate functions (Finance, IT & HR) to identify, challenge and impact assess business opportunities, facilitating prioritisation within the business area plans and working with the wider Business Change team to form the overall UK & I plan (5YP and rolling 1YP). The role holder will "triage" issues in the business as usual operations to ensure the issue is fully understood, the impact on the business is clear and the relevant priority is given to the issue until resolution is also a critical role in supporting the business areas. You will play an active role in supporting key Strategic Programmes, working close with the Programme Managers to ensure that dependencies with the programme are understood and managed.

The Business Change Manager - Corporate will establish the "One View of Change" for their business function(s), incorporating UK & I, Group and Regional projects and programmes, and covering people, process and technology changes.

The Business Change Manager will provide expertise and coaching of the end to end change management process in partnership with IT and the project delivery framework and internal governance processes (PMO). You will also lead and develop a team of Business Change Consultants and Analysts to support delivery of the change plan.


Business Change Leadership: You will provide effective business partnering and stakeholder management within the relevant business areas liaising with key change roles (Business leads, Process owners , Business owners, Sponsors, etc.), as well as working within the wider Strategic Innovation and Business Change (SIBC) team to ensure the services offered across SIBC are engaged and understood within the business area supported. In this role you will act as a champion for change and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. role may also provide Programme Management and/or Business lead support as appropriate to their business area where this cannot be provided.

Triage: You will also "triage" issues in the business as usual operations to ensure the issue is fully understood, the impact on the business is clear and the relevant priority is given to the issue until resolution.

Planning & Implementation: You will manage the interdependencies, risks and issues of the change plan within your business area and across the wider UK & I plan, ensuring they are successfully managed through resolution/mitigation. You will need to ensure there is a robust implementation approach in place for the change plan which takes in to account all end to end impacts and delivers detailed communication and training plans.

Portfolio Categorisation and Prioritisation: Working with your line manager (Head/Director of Business Change) you will be responsible for developing "One view of change" for their business area(s). This will be developed through participating in, and taking the output of, the five year strategic planning process . This will include UK & I projects and programmes and Regional and Group activities

Stakeholder Management: As a key point of contact for stakeholders in your business function, you require great stakeholder management skills, including the ability to challenge the leadership team as well as the ability to assess the impact of the initial idea against the current change plan in place.

Assurance: This roles will work with the UK&I PMO, Sponsors and Business Leads, to ensure that the business cases produced are complete and viable.. As part of this role, you will be required to ensure that any reporting on projects/programmes of change are accurate and timely. The role will also be able to identify and articulate business risks and issues; following the established routes for escalation, and supporting the development and delivery of mitigation plans.

Change Expertise

This role will provide coaching and the tools required to improve our capability to enable change to be delivered in a more consistent way, encouraging self-sufficiency. The role holders will work with Business Leads and Project/Programme Sponsors to support and develop them to carry out their roles more effectively.

Line Management: You will lead a small team of Change Consultants and Analysts. You will be a proven and experienced line management and will be responsible for driving continuous improvement within your area of business change.


- Excellent understanding of End to End Change Management process

- Understand customer needs, both internal customers and external customers and balance this with commercial drivers

- Comfortable with dealing with ambiguity, able to take decisions under uncertainty and able to quickly adapt to changes in priority

- Commercial acumen - ability to understand business requirements and quickly evaluate the cost/benefit of different change options with input from IT

- Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, in English to influence, challenge, engage, negotiate and inspire team members, peers and stakeholders at all levels

- Ability to work and collaborate with people in cross functional teams to ensure projects are appropriately prioritised and then delivered.

- Able to work at different levels - being comfortable communicating high level concepts to senior stakeholders, whilst also being able to delve in to the detail of complex changes when required.

- Able to work on own initiative and look forward to anticipate workloads

- Experience of successfully working with external suppliers (desirable but not essential).
