Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to understand business objectives and identify opportunities for applying machine learning techniques in the retail domain.
- Develop and implement state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and models for various retail applications, such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, personalised recommendations, and fraud detection.
- Work closely with data engineers to ensure seamless integration and scalability of machine learning models into our production systems.
- Continuously research and evaluate emerging machine learning technologies and methodologies to improve model performance and maintain a competitive edge.
- Conduct thorough data analysis, cleansing, and preprocessing to ensure the quality and reliability of input data for model training.
- Collaborate with the data privacy and compliance teams to ensure adherence to data protection regulations and ethical considerations in handling customer data.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of deployed machine learning models, implementing necessary updates and improvements as needed.
- Actively participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and mentoring to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. PhD is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or a similar role preferably in the retail or e-commerce industry.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java for implementing machine learning algorithms and data manipulation.
- Hands-on experience with popular machine learning libraries and frameworks, such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling and optimization techniques for solving real-world business problems.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed computing environments for scalable machine learning deployments.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) for processing and analyzing large datasets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset to develop creative solutions for complex business challenges.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
